KENYA: Qu'est-ce que le Forum social mondial?

NAIROBI, le 11 janvier, 2006 (CISA) -l'organisation Catholique Caritas Internationalis et la Conférence panafricaine des Eglises protestantes/évangéliques (AACC) se sont unifiées pour représenter les églises d'Afrique au Forum social mondial.
(Une quinzaine de Missionnaires d'Afrique de divers pays d'Afrique y participeront)

Ci-dessous, le goupe oecuménique de la Caritas/AACC explique le Forum social mondial 2007 et la contribution à fournir par les Eglises:

Le Forum social mondial est un groupe composé de femmes et d'hommes ; il y a des adultes, des jeunes, des vieux ; des habitants du monde rural et urbain ; des ouvriers et des chômeurs ; des sans-abris ; des étudiants ; des migrants et des professionnels ; des gens de toute croyance, de toute race et de toutes les orientations sexuelles.

Le Forum social mondial est un espace ouvert de rencontre pour que les gens de partout dans le monde puissent s'entraider à
Partager et discuter leurs expériences et points de vue variés
Susciter des idées pour promouvoir un monde plus équitable et juste
Se mettre en équipe d'action pour créer un monde plus équitable et juste

Les mouvements sociaux et les organisations qui participent au Forum social mondial s'engagent à :
L'unité dans la diversité
La justice sociale
Les droits humains
Les relations de paix et d'égalité

S'opposent à :

La concentration de la richesse en faveur d'un petit nombre
La violence
La marginalisation et l'exclusion
La destruction de la terre

Bien que le FSM réunisse des mouvements et des organisations de la société civile, ce n'est pas un organisme qui représente la société civile.

L'histoire du FSM
Le premier forum mondial a été organisé par des organisations brésiliennes.

Depuis lors, les réunions réunissent des milliers de personnes de partout dans le monde.

Le Forum social mondial a déjà eu lieu à Porto Alegre au Brésil (2001, 2002, 2003, 2005), à Mumbai en Inde: (2004) ainsi que lors d'évènements polyvalents à Bamako au Mali, à Caracas auVenezuela et à Karachi au Pakistan; (2006.)

Le Forum social mondial 2007

Du 20 au 25 janvier prochains, Nairobi accueillera pour la première fois le Forum social mondial en sol africain. Le lieu principal de cette septième rencontre du FSM sera le Centre Sportif International Moi à Kasarani - à 10km au nord-ouest du quartier central d'affaires de Nairobi.
Les cérémonies d'ouverture et de fermeture auront lieu au parc Uhuru, au centre de Nairobi.

La gestion commune Caritas/AACC
Les Eglises en Afrique se sont engagées depuis longtemps dans la lutte pour la justice sociale et ont été au service des sans-voix, des pauvres et des marginalisés. Le Forum social mondial tout proche est l'occasion pour les Eglises d'Afrique de se réunir et de réfléchir au sujet des soucis communs qui font avancer la dignité humaine.

Le groupe œcuménique Caritas-AACC en vue du Forum social mondial s'est formé pour mettre ensemble les circonscriptions respectives et de la Caritas et de l'AACC pour faciliter la participation des Eglises d'Afrique au processus du FSM et l'évènement lui-même qui aura lieu à Nairobi, Kenya en 2007.

En s'inspirant du livres des Proverbes 31,9 : Ouvre ta bouche en faveur du muet, pour la cause de tous les abandonnés. Ouvre ta bouche, rends de justes arrêts, et fais justice au malheureux et à l'indigent, notre but est de créer un espace pour témoigner et pour la synergie, en élevant la voix morale des Eglises d'Afrique au sujet des questions et des problèmes de la justice sociale au Forum social mondial à Nairobi en 2007.

Le processus du FSM est une occasion privilégié de créer un espace large œcuménique qui rassemble des chrétiens au seuil du témoignage des visions alternatives à l'encontre du système de valeurs de la globalisation. Cela nous donne l'occasion de manifester au monde que nous avons un programme œcuménique africain et d'assurer que l'Afrique ne sera plus le continent oublié. De cette manière, la voix d'Afrique au sujet des problèmes mondiaux sera entendue.

Le groupe œcuménique Caritas/AACC a identifié les sujets majeurs de sa contribution :

L'eau et le changement du climat
La démocratie et la bonne gouvernance
La pauvreté et les moyens d'existence urbaine et rurale
Supprimer la violence, faciliter la paix et la réconciliation

NAIROBI, January 11, 2006 (CISA) -The Catholic organization Caritas Internationalis and the Protestant/Evangelical body All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) have joined hands to represent churches in Africa at the World Social Forum.

Here, the Caritas/AACC Ecumenical Platform explains the World Social Forum 2007 and the churches’ input:

The World Social Forum is a group made up of:
Women and men
Adults, youth and the elderly
Indigenous peoples, rural and urban
Workers and unemployed
Homeless
Students, migrants and professionals
People of every creed, colour and sexual orientations

The World Social Forum is an open meeting place for people from all over the World to join hands to:
Share and debate their different views and experiences
Come up with idea to promote a fair and just world
Team up for action to create a fair and just world
The organizations and social movements who participate in the World Social Forum

Are committed to:
Diversity and unity
Social justice
Human rights
Peaceful and equal relations

Are opposed to:
Concentration of wealth among few
The use of violence
Marginalization and exclusion
Destruction of the earth
Although the WSF brings together civil society organization and movements, it is not a body representing civil society.

History of the WSF

The first world forum was organised by Brazilian organisations.

Since then, annual meetings have been held gathering thousands of people from all over the world.

Past world social forums were held in: Porto Alegre, Brazil (2001, 2002, 2003, 2005) Mumbai, India: 2004 And polycentric events: Bamako, mali, Caracas, Venzuela; and Karachi, Pakistan; 2006

World Social Forum 2007

The WSF is being held in Africa for the first time, it will take place in Nairobi, Kenya. The main venue will be the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani – about 10km North West of the Central Business District of Nairobi.

Opening and closing ceremonies will be held at Uhuru Park in downtown Nairobi.

The Caritas/Aacc Ecumenical Platform

The churches in Africa have long been involved in the fight for social justice and serve as a voice for voiceless, poor, and marginalized. The upcoming WSF is a chance for the Churches in Africa to come together to reflect on issues of common concern that promote human dignity.

The Caritas-AACC Ecumenical Platform for the World Social Forum was formed to unite the respective constituencies of both Caritas and AACC to facilitate the participation of the Churches of Africa in the WSF process and actual event in Nairobi, Kenya, 2007.

Taking our inspiration from Proverbs 31:9, speak out and judge fairly, defend the rights of the poor and the needy, our aim is to create a space for witnessing and synergy, herald the moral voice of the Churches in Africa on issues and themes of social justice at the World Social Forum in Nairobi 2007.

The WSF process is a great opportunity to create a broad ecumenical space that brings together Christians into the frontier of witnessing alternative visions to the predominant ethos of globalisation. It presents us with the ability to showcase as African ecumenical agenda to the World, to ensure that Africa is no longer a forgotten continent. Thus, the voice of Africa on global issues will be heard.

Prayer for World Social Forum 2007 (English/Kiswahili)
NAIROBI, January 11, 2007 (CISA) -At least 150,000 participants converge on Nairobi for the 7th World Social Forum 2007 starting Jan.20.

Here is a special prayer for the forum, prepared by Exodus-Kutoka, a network of Catholic parishes working in Nairobi slums (see http://www.kutokanet.org):

God our Father, we, together in solidarity with all the slum dwellers of Africa come to you confidently in prayer, for it is you who unites us in your love. You are the source of all justice, peace and love. We have often failed to take decisive action against poverty, tribalism and violence.

Almighty Father, we implore you to help us put aside our divisions and differences and come together to participate in building our common projects by improving good governance and local democracy, by promoting decentralization and structuring the African urban areas and also by sustaining local development and reinforcing their capacities.

Lord, hear the cries of your people who are exploited marginalized, abused and victimized, and open our hearts to love and enable us to see that all people are made in your image.

Transform us in the offering of ourselves, so that we may be your partners in the transformation of the formal and informal settlements of our urban communities in Africa. Amen.
